Day Two

From Jennifer Eppert, who is roughly 2,300 miles from the Grand Canyon, back home in Florida. Since the kids are relying on wifi at each hotel to upload their photos after a long day in the Arizona sun, I figured I would help keep the blog going by uploading the phone pictures I’m receiving from my son, Jonas.

Day Two: David, Mary, Jonas, Zachary and Becca explored some of the vortex sites in and around Sedona, with mysterious, magnetic energies, that inspire, invigorate, and calm with their "electric energy". Afterwards, a 15 mile drive between Sedona and Flagstaff, weaves through lush forests beneath high sandstone cliffs in one of Arizona's most beautiful areas. Trails, picnic areas, and natural swimming holes to stop and linger.
(Ok, so I totally copyright infringed on Mary's itinerary).

Jonas said along their scenic travels they sighted Bell Rock, stopped at Chapel of the Holy Cross and drove to Vista Point, Oak Creek Canyon which is an elevation of 7,000 ft.!

Day One

Posted by: Jennifer Eppert

My kids: Jonas and Becca, Grandma Mary, David and David’s Grandson, Zachary (which would make Zachary a cousin-in-law or step cousin to my kids? whatever the connection is, he’s family!) are off touring the Grand Canyon for the next week.

They’re adventure began Saturday morning. Now, no fun would be had if there wasn’t some sort of change in their plans, right?

Originally, they were to leave PBI at 6:30am, change planes in Houston, and arrive in Arizona around 9am. A whole day was planned to visit the Heard Museum then Montezuma Castle National Monument then meet up with an astronomer for star gazing in the evening…well, there was a slight delay, a 5 hour flight delay!, which pushed back their connecting flight in Houston. So they arrived in Phoenix around 6pm then traveled by car. Jonas said they didn’t arrive to their hotel until midnight Arizona time… which means my kids were awake from 4am – 3am, 23 hours!! That’s pretty scary! I’ve seen what my kids can turn into if they don’t get their 10+ hours of sleep they’ve come accustomed to since summer began.
Here are some of the things we did to pass the time at Palm Beach International airport during the 5 hour delay:
Turned Jonas into a bunny
leaned on Mary for support...
Becca journaled...
Zachary went on a safari ride...
then Becca saved Zachary from a killer seal...
Jonas went swimming with sea turtles!
then took some time to look at the art...
I say "Thank you" for the extra 5 hour delay!
What an adventure!

The 6 day countdown begins

Jonas: I cannot wait  to go to The Grand Canyon! It's going to be so much fun.
Becca: I am so excited to go to The Grand Canyon. I'm not a fan of plane rides, but the Grand Canyon! oh yeah! There's so many things I want to expirence, especialy riding on a train! Never been on one. I think it's going to be a fantastic learning expirence. See you in Arisona!
